About
Hi! My name is Mick and I'm an illustrator from New York City. It's nice to meet you!
Growing up I always loved animals (as children tend to). They were just the most fascinating and amazing beings in the world to me. I devoured Ranger Rick magazines and whatever zoological material I could find. I also remember searching for critters in my back yard for hours or just lounging with my cat Duster in the grass until it got dark. Animals were my first love.
Art was my second. It has always felt natural to me to bring these two loves together and I’ve always enjoyed expressing my love for our animal companions and family members as well as helping others who don’t make art themselves, do the same. I started working as an illustrator after college and went on to work for independent publishers, designers and brands as well as clients who requested private commissions. I’ve had the opportunity to work on many portraits of beloved family members over the years but the pet and animal kind have always been my favorites.
In 2022, I decided that I wanted to create more opportunities to combine my first and second loves more often, and so I created Mickadoodles as an avenue to do that. The goal is to provide an easy way for people to commission high quality pet art for an affordable price. So far it’s been nothing but fun and rewarding and has become the most enjoyable task on my illustration to-do list.
My next goal? I’m always looking for exciting new opportunities and collaborations, so I’d like to focus on partnering with other artists and creators that enjoy celebrating our pets and the animal kingdom as much as I do. I’ve written and illustrated a children’s book you can find below entitled The First Galapagos Tortoise. Children’s content is another one of my happy places so I’d love to develop some more projects in that space! One day I would love to illustrate a widely distributed book for a top 5 publisher.
